Samuel L. Jackson Will Receive An Honorary Oscar At 2022 Ceremony

Samuel L. Jackson will be among a number of actors who will receive an honorary Oscar at the Academy’s Governors Awards next year.

Actors Elaine May and Liv Ullmann will also be presented with honorary Oscar’s and Danny Glover will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

The award ceremony will be held on January 15 2022 after the 2020 ceremony was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President David Rubin said.

“We are thrilled to present this year’s Governors Awards to four honourees who have had a profound impact on both film and society.”

“Sam Jackson is a cultural icon whose dynamic work has resonated across genres and generations and audiences worldwide.” He added.

This years TV ratings for the Oscars held in April dropped by over 58 per cent. Only 9.58 Million people in total tuned in to watch the ceremony.
