Scarlett Johansson And Disney Settle ‘Black Widow’ Lawsuit

Scarlett Johansson has settled her Black Widow lawsuit with Walt Disney Studios, after suing the company over a loss of earnings.

The actress filed a lawsuit against the company in July, alleging that she had lost out on more than $50 million as a a result of Black Widow releasing on streaming service Disney+.

Johansson claimed that Disney had guaranteed to her that the film would have an exclusive theatrical release and that most of her earnings from the film where based on its box office performance.

Now according to Deadline, both Disney and Johansson have agreed to settle out of court for a rumoured fee of $40 million.

“I am happy to have resolved our differences. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team,” Johansson said in a statement on Thursday.

Disney Studios chairman Alan Bergman also released a statement regarding the settlement saying: “I’m very pleased that we have been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson.”

Bergman added that Disney “look forward to working together” with Johansson on a number of upcoming projects.
