Sha’Carri Richardson Not Selected For USA Olympic Relay Team

After being banned from being able to compete in the 100m completion due to the use of marijuana, Sha’Carri Richardson has not been selected in the USA Track & Field team for the 4x100m relay event.
Sha’Carri would have been eligible to complete in the event as it is set to take place after the runners 30-day suspension. The 21-year-old athlete spoke on NBC’sToday show saying; “I know I can’t hide myself, so in some type of way, I was trying to hide my pain.” ESPN report.
Richardson tested positive for the drug following her Olympic trails win in Oregon. When opening up about the reasoning behind using the drug, she explains that the stress of the recent death of her biological mother and the pressure of the olympic trails led to the use of Marijuana.
Even though this is a setback, Sha’Carri added that she has plenty more opportunities in the future. “I’m very young. … I have plenty of Games left in me to compete in and I have plenty of talent that backs me up,” she said on the Today Show.
