Sir Anthony Hopkins Reveals He “Couldn’t Believe” His Oscar Win

Sir Anthony Hopkins has revealed that he didn’t show up to collect his Oscar for Best Actor because he didn’t expect to win.
Hopkins admitted he expected the late Chadwick Boseman to win the award.
Boseman had been the favourite to secure the Oscar.
“The contender was Chadwick Boseman, so I went to bed. I didn’t expect to get it, at all.”
“My phone went, and it was a text from my agent saying ‘You’ve won the Oscar’ at about 5 o’clock in the morning,” said Hopkins.
“I couldn’t believe it, I really couldn’t believe it. I didn’t expect it, I really didn’t expect it.” He added.
The 83-year-old became the oldest actor ever to win an Oscar for his role in The Father in which he plays a man suffering from dementia.
Hopkins made a speech the day after his win where he paid tribute to Chadwick and thanked the academy.
