Spotify Stats Reveal Bad Bunny As Most Streamed Artist Of 2021

It’s the time of year that Spotify listeners have been waiting for: Spotify Wrapped 2021.
And for the second year running, it’s been a successful trip around the sun for Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny.
Even without the release of an album this year, he still takes the top spot for the most listened to artist globally on Spotify with 9.1 billion streams.
Coming in at a roaring second is Taylor Swift, who has dominated the last year or so.
That is largely thanks to new albums Folklore and Evermore to the re-recordings of previous albums Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and record-breaking Red (Taylor’s Version).
Not only did she capture the hearts of current and old fans, but she has also seen an influx of new ones appreciating her music in the last twelve months.
Rounding off the top three is hugely successful k-pop group BTS.
Collabs with Coldplay and Megan Thee Stallion helped solidify their spot in the top five; which is completed by Drake and Justin Bieber who both released new projects this year.
After arguably one of the most successful breakout years of all time, it is unsurprising that Olivia Rodrigo dominated listening stats in 2021.
The 18-year-old seemingly burst onto the music scene, with the help of TikTok, with her record-breaking debut single drivers license.
With well over one billion listens, it was the most-streamed song globally among Spotify users.
Follow up singles deja vu and good 4 u only helped build the excitement for her first studio album, which did not disappoint.
SOUR earned the title of the most-streamed album across the world, beating the likes of Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran.
Her breakout success earned her seven Grammy nominations to cap off a whirlwind year.
And finally, The Joe Rogan Experience topped listens for global podcasts.
Call Her Daddy came in at second, while Crime Junkie completed the top three.
TED Talks Daily and The Daily ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
