Tame Impala are hinting at something new releasing later this year after sharing a cryptic teaser video advertising a fake drug called ‘Rushium’.
The minute-long teaser contains lots of trippy abstract imagery and shows Kevin Parker working in a laboratory.
Towards the end of the clip Parker holds a vial of his newly created medical drug towards the camera. The label on the drug reads “Tame Impala / 2021 V.1 Clinical Trial / S.R. Tour”.
At the end of the video a title card reads “Phase 1 Clinical Trials Begin 09/2021”.
Although, the teaser doesn’t reveal exactly what Tame Impala are planning the inclusion of “S.R. Tour” on the label implies that it is something in relation to their ongoing tour for Tame Impala’s fourth album, ‘The Slow Rush’.
A fake website has also been launched by the band to advertise ‘Rushium’.
The band’s North American tour for their fourth album was meant to have begun in May but was delayed until February next year. It has now been re-scheduled again and will begin next month in July.
