Tom Ford’s Husband Richard Buckley Dies Aged 72

The writer, editor and husband to designer Tom Ford, Richard Buckley, has died from “natural causes after a prolonged illness” on Sunday (19th September).

A representative of Tom Ford told Vogue “Richard passed away peacefully at their home in Los Angeles last night with Tom and their son Jack by his side.”

Buckley had a long, very successful career as a fashion journalism, beginning in 1970.

His work has been featured in New York Magazine, Vogue and Vanity Fair before he became editor-in-chief of Vogue Hommes International in 1999.

Buckley and Ford met in 1986 when Buckley was editor of Women’s Wear Daily, and have been together ever since.

The pair married in 2014 when same sex marriage was made legal, and share a son Alexander John Buckley Ford who was born in 2012 via surrogate.
