Angelina Jolie has revealed that she “fought” with former husband Brad Pitt over his decision to work with disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.

In an interview with The Guardian, Jolie said she was “hurt” when her then-husband Brad Pitt approached Weinstein to produce the 2012 film ‘Killing Them Softly‘.

“We fought about it. Of course it hurt,” said Jolie.

The 46-year-old actress and humanitarian alleges that Weinstein assaulted her during the production of Playing By Heart. The film released in 1998, when Jolie was just 21-years-old.

“It was beyond a pass. It was something I had to escape,” she explains. “I stayed away and warned people about him. I remember telling Johnny, my first husband, who was great about it, to spread the word to other guys – don’t let girls go alone with him.”

“I was asked to do The Aviator, but I said no because he was involved. I never associated or worked with him again. It was for me when Brad did.”

Jolie added that she believes the attempt to assault is an assault in itself.

“If you get yourself out of the room, you think he attempted but didn’t, right? The truth is that the attempt and the experience of the attempt is an assault.”

In 2009, Pitt also starred in Quentin Tarantino’sInglorious Basterds‘ – a film produced by the Weinstein Company.

Weinstein has since issued a statement to TMZ refuting Jolie’s claims.

“It’s very clear to me that this is for more sales on Angie’s BOOK. THERE WAS NEVER an assault, and NEVER an attempt to assault,” said Weinstein.

“It is brazenly untrue and clickbait publicity. You’re Angelina Jolie, every make and female in the world, I’m sure, shows interest in you. Is the whole world assaulting you?”
