Nicole Kidman is receiving backlash after supposedly avoiding Hong Kong quarantine rules while filming for Amazon series, ‘The Expats‘.
Kidman was sighted shopping in Hong Kong days after her arrival.
According to a report by The Guardian, Kidman was granted permission from the government to skip quarantine in order to work on the new show. Ordinarily travelers are expected to undergo a mandatory three-week quarantine upon entering Hong Kong.
In a statement from the Hong Kong government, Kidman’s exception was acknowledged without naming the 54-year-old actress.
“The case in discussion has been granted permission to travel to Hong Kong with a quarantine exception for the purpose of performing designated professional work, taking into account that it is conductive to maintaining the necessary operation and development of Hong Kong’s economy.”
The statement added that Kidman was still expected to comply with Covid restrictions.
