Anthony Hopkins Joins Cast Of ‘The Son’

Anthony Hopkins has joined the cast of Florian Zeller’s latest picture, The Son.
Hopkins has previously worked with Zeller on his 2020 production, The Father, which earned him an Oscar for best actor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hopkins is joined by Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern, Venessa Kirby and Zen McGrath in the new project. Joining Zeller to produce are Iain Canning and Emile Sherman of See-Saw Films, alongside Christophe Spandone.
The Son is an adaptation of Zeller’s play Le Fils. The story will follow Peter (Jackman) and his partner, Beth (Kirby), whose lives with their new baby are thrown into disarray by the arrival of his ex-wife (Dern) and their son, Nicholas (McGrath).
“After our journey on The Father, I couldn’t make another film without Anthony,” said Zeller. “He was the first one to read The Son’s script, as one of its characters was written especially for him. Having him by our side to tell this new story has been an honor, a profound joy and very emotional.”
Principle photography for The Son reportedly concluded in London in October.
