Bottega Veneta Appoints Matthieu Blazy As Creative Director

Following the shock departure of Daniel LeeBottega Veneta have appointed Matthieu Blazy as their new creative director.

Like Lee, Blazy previously worked at Celine before moving to New York to work under Raf Simons at Calvin Klein.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, Leo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta, said “Matthieu Blazy is an extraordinarily talented individual, whom I am proud and excited to entrust with the creative helm of our luxury House.”

Bottega Veneta has always been equated with signature craftsmanship and distinctive creativity. Matthieu’s appointment will further enhance the modern relevance of our brand and accelerate our growth, while preserving the values that are at the core of Bottega Veneta.”

Blazy is set to present his first collection in February 2022. He will follows in the footsteps of fellow designers which were promoted to the top spot.

Alessandro Michele and Virginie Viard, who were both promoted to the top spot from within at Gucci and Chanel respectively.

François-Henri Pinault, Chairman & CEO of Kering is confident in the appointment, saying in a statement, “Matthieu Blazy’s wealth of experience and broad cultural background will allow him to bring his creative impetus to the task of carrying on the legacy of Bottega Veneta.”
