Bushwick Bill, a rapper from the group Geto Boys, has died aged 52 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

His death comes after a prematurely released article by multiple publications claimed he died earlier than he did, with his son, Javon Boutte, writing, “Contrary to what has been prematurely, insensitively, and inaccurately posted – My dad IS NOT dead, he’s still alive and fighting for his life.”

In a statement from Bushwick’s representative via Rolling Stone, ” Bushwick Bill passed away peacefully this evening at 9:35 p.m. He was surrounded by his immediate family … We are looking into doing a public memorial at a later date. His family appreciates all of the prayers and support and are asking for privacy at this time.”

Scarface, a fellow member of Geto Boys, initially released a post on Instagram saying, “RIP Bushwick Bill.” which was the first public announcement claiming the rapper had died. He deleted the post and shared another with the caption, “Cheat it again Bill,” which he then deleted again.

It has been confirmed that Bushwick died on Sunday, 9:35 PM.

The Geto Boys were best known for their song, Mind Playing Tricks on Me, and their work from Office Space where the main characters destroy a printer with the song Still plays in the background.

Buckwick was born in Jamaica with dwarfism, with a height of 3’8″ — and lost his right eye after his mom shot him whilst high on PCP.

Rest in Peace.
