Former MLB star, David Ortiz, has been shot during an attempted robbery in the Dominican Republic.
Leo Ortiz, David’s father, told ESPN that his son was shot whilst at an amusement centre in Santa Domingo, saying, “They called me to tell me that David is injured and that they took him to a medical centre, but they did not tell me how he is or exactly where he was transferred.”
Multiple reports are saying he was shot either in his leg or in the abdomen, however it is unclear at this time. We are told that he is in a very stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
According to sources, David was heard saying, “Please do not let me die, I am a good man.” as doctors assessed his condition.
He played 20 seasons in the majors and made 10 all-star teams, winning 3 World Series titles whilst playing for the Boston Red Sox.
