Colin Firth & Livia Giuggioli Split After 22 Years Of Marriage And 2 Years Since Affair Scandal

Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli have split after 22 years of marriage. 

Two years ago the 59-year-old and his wife revealed that she had an affair with an Italian journalist as the pair were separated for almost a year.

A court case took place after Giuggioli claimed the journalist, Marco Brancaccia, was stalking her amid their separation in 2016, which he denied at the time.

Firth and Livia said in a joint statement in 2018, “A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr. Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited.”

A settlement was made outside of court in July 2018, with the lawyers representing both parties saying, “In the best interests of their families, the parties have agreed a private settlement. Therefore the parties have asked the court for a postponement of the preliminary hearing in order to formalise the agreement. From this point on, this agreement precludes any further public statement by any of the parties about this matter.”

The Love Actually actor and Giuggioli have officially separated, and in a short statement made to PEOPLE, a rep has said, “Colin and Livia Firth have separated. They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children. They kindly ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
