Danny DeVito Joins The Cast Of Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’

Danny DeVito is the latest addition to Disney’s upcoming film, Haunted Mansion.
Haunted Mansion is based on a Disney World attraction by the same name. Though plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, the official description for the ride reads:
“Glide past a casket-filled conservatory, Madame Leota’s chilling seance room and a ghost graveyard of singing spectres as you attempt to find your way out. Beware of hitchhikers – these phantom pranksters may follow you home.”
Other Disney films based on theme park namesakes include Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise. The planned Tower of Terror film is also based on a Disney World ride.
Justin Simien is directing the picture, which reportedly began production last week in New Orleans and Atlanta. DeVito joins a cast which already boasts the likes of Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish and Rosario Dawson.
DeVito is best known for his starring role in FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It was recently announced that he would return to star alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Triplets – a sequel to their 1988 film, Twins. He will also star in a new thriller entitled Sniff, with Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, and Helen Mirren.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the new casting.
