Debra Granik To Co-Write And Direct ‘Like No Other’ Adaptation

Debra Granik is set to make the film adaptation for Una LaMarche’s novel ‘Like No Other‘.
The book follows Devorah and Jaxon – two wildly different people who have lived opposite each other their entire lives without ever meeting. When the pair are trapped in an elevator together during a hurricane, a forbidden romance ensues.
According to Deadline Granik and Anne Rosellini secured the option for the novel and will co-write the script together. Rosellini will produce with Alix Madigan.
“I have so much respect for this team and their incredible body of work. I could not be more thrilled that they are bringing Like No other to life on screen.” Said LaMarche – author of the original novel.
“The world Una creates is one we want to live in – where unexpected friendships are made and rigidity gives way to allowing for love and for acceptance of the ‘other’.” Said a joint statement from Granik, Rosellini and Madigan.
Granik is best known for her film Leave No Trace, about a father and former soldier who lives in the woods with his young daughter. The film, starring Ben Foster and Thomasin McKenzie, achieved critical success.
The 58-year-old American filmmaker has previously worked with Jennifer Lawrence and John Hawkes on her Academy-nominated film ‘Winter’s Bone‘.
