Jordison was one of the first bandmates to join Slipknot in 1995, alongside Shawn Crahan and Paul Gray.
The band went on to become one of the most successful and genre-defining heavy metal bands in recent history.
He left the band in 2013 and later revealed he had suffered from a neurological diseased called transverse myelitis, which had affected his ability to play the drums.
Despite this, Jordison continued his music career in bands including Scar the Martyr, Vimic, Sinsaenum and Murderdolls.
In 2010, Jordison was voted the best drummer of the past 25 years by Rhythm Magazine. Loudwire would also name him the world’s greatest drummer in 2013 and in 2016 he received The Golden God Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.
Rest in peace, Joey.
