Eddie Money Dead At 70 From Cancer

Hitmaker Eddie Money has died aged 70 from cancer, unCrazed has confirmed. 

He died on Friday following complications from stage 4 esophageal cancer. In a statement, his family said, “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning.

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We can not imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

He was popular in the ’70s and ’80s for hit songs including Take Me Home Tonight and Baby Hold On. He made the announcement about his diagnosis during the second season of his reality show Real Money.

In 1966, Eddie, born Edward Joseph Mahoney, served as a New York Police Department officer but ditched the badge after serving two years in New York City in 1968 — he left to fulfil his dream of becoming a rock star in California.

Eddie was 70 and survived by his wife, Laurie, of more than 30 years, and 5 children, Zachary, Jessica, Joseph, Julian and Desmond.
