Elijah Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in the Lord of The Rings trilogy, has revealed that one of the orcs in the film was directly based on disgraced director and sexual predator Harvey Weinstein.

Dazed described the orc as “arguably the most repulsive, distorted, and horrific of the entire trilogy: a grey, putrid lump with thin wiry strands of hair snaking out from its head.”

Weinstein is currently serving a 23 year sentence for at a New York state prison for a number of sexual abuse offences.

According to The Guardian, Wood expressed that it was a kind of “f*ck you.”

“He had seen these orc masks. And one of the orc masks – and I remember this vividly – was designed to look like Harvey Weinstein.”

“I think that is OK to talk about now,” Wood said. “The guy is fucking incarcerated. F*ck him.”

Wood said the reason for the fitting tribute was because Peter Jackson, the director of the LOTR trilogy was having problems with Weinstein when making the first film, The Fellowship of The Ring.

The films were originally to be made by Miramax, Weinstien’s company but the two frequently clashed as Weinstein wanted all three books condensed into one film.

He even threatened to replace Jackson with Quentin Tarantino or John Madden.

Eventually, Jackson successfully found a different producer to make the films after his team leaked the script to garner interest.

The project was picked up by Bob Shaye, founder of New Line Cinema, who agreed to make three movies.

The trilogy made $2.92bn at the box office, according to IndieWire, and is considered one of the most successful film series ever made.
