Emma Raducanu Wins Her First Grand Slam Title

Emma Raducanu became the first British woman in 44 years to win a Grand Slam title. The final was both Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez first appearance in a Grand Slam final. 

In what was the first all teenager Grand Slam final since 1999, Raducanu took on Fernandez in the US Open final, which lasted nearly two hours.

Throughout the tournament Raducanu never dropped a set with the teenager beating Fernandez 6-4 and 6-3.

Since winning Emma has become the number 23rd world ranked women’s player. Leylah has also moved up to 28th in the world rankings.
