“Empire” Star, Jussie Smollett, Victim Of Suspected Homophobic Attack In Chicago

Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon in Empire, is recovering from a suspected homophobic attack in Chicago. 

The 35-year-0old was travelling from New York to Chicago on Monday night where Empire is filmed, and where Jussie has a residence.

A report was made to the Chicago Police Department stating an assault and battery had taken place — according to our sources, Jussie walked down a street near his residence when two suspects approached him and yelled “racial” and “homophobic” slurs; followed by the same people battering “the victim with their hands” and pouring “an unknown chemical substance” on Jussie.

Further details were given stating a rope was wrapped around Jussie’s neck before the suspects left the scene.

Jussie then took himself to a local hospital and he is in “good condition”.
