F9’s Nathalie Emmanuel Gets Real About Her Struggles With Body Image

Nathalie Emmanuel has opened up about her previous struggles with body image and has shared how she gained a more positive outlook.
The F9 star appeared on the July/August cover of Women’s Health. In an interview with the magazine, she recalls the moment that she released her mindset had to change.
“You know how on Facebook it shows you a memory of yourself from six years ago or four years ago?” she said. “A picture came up on my phone, and I went, ‘I look so great!’ But I also remember that at the time, I thought I was overweight and needed to do all these unhealthy things.”
“We just beat ourselves up constantly, and we’re never perfect enough” she adds.
In order to stop negative self-talk and negativity around her body image, the star had to alter her relationship to exercise. “I had to change how I interacted with exercise and decide what I wanted to get from it” she shares.
To reframe her approach to wellness further, she practises yoga. She first started yoga when she was 18 and admitted it was a time when her mental health was “deteriorating”.
“What I love about yoga is there’s no pressure to be the best at it,” she said. “Even if you just lie on your mat for the hour and breathe with intention, you’re doing yoga.”
The Game of Thrones actress also adopted a vegan diet and exercises with focus on achievements, rather than measurements.
