Former WWE Announcer, ‘Mean Gene’ Okerlund, Dies Aged 76

Shockwaves have rippled through the WWE community following the news of former WWE announcer, Eugene Arthur Okerlund, passing away aged 76.

He was the most famous announcer in pro-wrestling, starting out as a radio DJ in Nebraska before he joined the American Wrestling Association in 1970.

Vince McMahon’s company have issued a statement saying, “WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Fame Gene Okerlund, the most recognisable interviewer in sports-entertainment history, has passed away at age 76,”.

Former pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan, real name Terry Gene Bollea, has said, “Mean Gene I love you my brother,”.
