Gabrielle Union Talks About ‘America’s Got Talent’ Whistleblowing Experience

Gabrielle Union has reflected on her time as a judge on America’s Got Talent and reveals her experiences leading up to her firing.
The 47-year-old was on a panel for female empowerment and inclusivity on Monday when she said, “Don’t allow them to call you angry when someone else is called passionate,”
She continued, “It’s terrifying. There’s a solid chance you’ll lose your job … I speak from experience.” — the former AGT judge made sure the audience wasn’t left feeling unmotivated about their work-life, furthering, “Do you best because corporations want global dollars.
Do you best to try to hold the door open and hold people responsible. Yeah, I’m asking you to do the impossible … I’m fully aware that job loss is on the table … but if you’re not doing it, nobody is.”
Union went on to talk about the difficulties of speaking out when she was one of the only people of colour in the room, saying, “Are you going to assimilate and allow all of this to go on? Or are you going to say something and immediately be other-ed? Are you going to say something? You know it’s wrong. Everyone knows it’s wrong.”
