Amal Clooney has revealed that her husband, George Clooney, refuses to let her watch his 1997 performance in Batman & Robin.

At a special screening of The Tender Bar, Variety took the opportunity to ask Clooney why he wouldn’t be joining Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck in DC’s upcoming The Flash.

Affleck, who portrays the most recent iteration of the on-screen Caped Crusader, is pegged to feature in his Justice League co-star Ezra Miller’s first solo film. He is joined by his Batman predecessor, Michael Keaton – who played the character in two films from 1989.

The surprise inclusion of different versions of the Dark Knight, comes as the reality-altering plot of The Flash is revealed. The film will find Miller travelling back in time to save his mother, inadvertently causing repercussions for the entire universe.

“They didn’t ask me,” Clooney confessed. “When you destroy a franchise the way I did, usually they look the other way when ‘The Flash‘ comes by.”

“He won’t let me watch it,” Amal Clooney added.

“There are certain films I just go, ‘I want my wife to have some respect for me’,” said George.

Pointing out that the couple’s twins Alexander and Ella will one day want to watch it, George replied: “It’s bad when your four-year-old kid goes, ‘This sucks’. That could be painful.”

Though their respective Caped Crusaders may never meet, Clooney and Affleck came together for their work on The Tender Bar. Directed and co-written by Clooney, the coming-of-age film stars Affleck alongside Tye Sheridan, Lily Rabe and Christopher Lloyd.

The story follows a boy seeking out a surrogate father, who finds himself forming a bond with his Uncle Charlie (Affleck) and the patrons at a bar.
