Halle Berry Reveals The Worst Advice She’s Ever Received

Halle Berry has shared what she calls “the worst piece of advice” she’s ever received.

The 55-year-old actress spoke in an interview with Entertainment Weekly celebrating Hollywood A-listers.

“The worst piece of advice [I’ve had was], ‘Have a backup plan’, because if you have a backup plan, chances are you’ll fall to your backup,” Said Berry. “And if you really have a dream, I think you have to have blinders on, and you have to have only one goal, and you have to be relentless in your pursuit of that goal.”

“So, when I got told ‘have a backup plan’, I said ‘screw that! Not going to have a backup plan’.”

Berry added that the best advice she adhered to was to, “March to the beat of my own drum”.

“Run my own race. I think those have been really important in life because on can get really sidetracked watching what the others are doing. And I was also told, ‘Never compare yourself’. These are things that I think, over the past 30 years, have been really fundamental in my ability to not only find success, but find peace while I’m on that journey.”

Berry made her cinematic debut in 1991, with Spike Lee’s ‘Jungle Fever‘. Since then she has featured in a long list of Hollywood blockbusters. In 2004 she played the titular role in ‘Catwoman‘ and later claimed the role of Storm in the X-Men franchise.

Currently, Berry is awaiting the release of her directorial debut ‘Bruised‘ – which will arrive on Netflix on November 24. She is also set to appear in two new sci-fi films, ‘Moonfall‘ and ‘The Mothership‘.
