Harry And Meghan Purchased Domain Names For Their Daughter Before Her Birth
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reveal they pre-purchased domains that could relate to their daughter’s name, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the revelation in a statement to People.
The couple explained that the purchase of the domains prevented the exploitative use of their daughter’s name without permission.
“As is often customary with public figures,” Wrote a spokesperson. “A significant number of domains of any potential names that were considered were purchased by their team to protect against the exploitation of the name once it was later chosen and publicly shared.”
Lili was born on June 4 in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, California. Her birth was announced on the couple’s Archwell website.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.” Explained their statement.
The Telegraph reports that LilibetDiana.com and LiliDiana.com were two domains which were purchased.
