The Italian police has seized properties that belong to former Haas F1 driver Nikita Mazepin

The Russian driver was dropped by the sponsor in March as a result of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

Mazepin, and his oligarch father Dmitry, have had properties valued around $114.32 million seized, Italian financial police said on Monday.

The 23-year-old’s father was described as “a member of the closest circle of Vladimir Putin” by the EU.

“A real estate asset worth approximately 105 million euro has been frozen because the property is attributable to the Russian billionaire Dmitry Arkadievich Mazepin and his son Nikita Dmitrievich Mazepin, until March 5, a Formula 1 driver of the Haas F1 Team,” a statement read.

“The property is a residential compound in Portisco, Sardinia.

“The two Mazepin are among the Russians targeted by sanctions by the European Union.”

Mazepin previously stated that he disagreed with the sanctions, labelling it ‘cancel culture against my country’ in an interview with the BBC.
