James Corden has reacted to Bill Maher and his “fat isn’t a birth defect” comment.

Bill stated that “Nobody comes out of the womb needing to buy two seats on the aeroplane.” furthering that “Fat-shaming doesn’t need to end, it needs to make a comeback.”

In response to the comments, James used The Late Late Show platform to express his opinion surrounding the way Bill phrased himself.

He said, “There’s a common and insulting misconception that fat people are stupid and lazy and we’re not. We get it, we know. We know that being overweight isn’t good for us and I’ve struggled my entire life trying to manage my weight and I suck at it.”

Staring into the camera, the comedian and actor said, “Fat-shaming is just bullying … and bullying only makes the problem worse.”

One fan wrote, “I’m a nutritionist and I approve this message. I wish people knew how complex weight management is, sometime you can’t even control it with diet and exercise, there’s hormones involves and genetics.

The mental health is the most important thing about weight management. People’s relationship with food is something to consider when we are treating people with obesity or malnutrition. So I say if you don’t know anything about people’s life don’t say a word about their weight.”
