Multiple brands including Giorgio Armani cancelled their shows due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases, but Prada was one of the few that continued on as planned.
About the show, Prada explained that it is “Taking theater and cinema as mirrors of reality, for the Fall/Winter 2022 Prada men’s show by #MiucciaPrada and #RafSimons, the Deposito of the #FondazionePrada is reimagined by AMO as a stage for action, a representation of a heightened actuality.”
Fans may have been surprised to see their favourite actors walk the catwalk this year, debuting Prada’s line which is said to “represent a uniform of reality, rematerialized in leather and silk tech as a mark of respect and value.”
Twin Peaks star Jeff MacLachlan opened the show.
Sex Education star Asa Butterfield also walked the catwalk, wearing a dark blue suit and black turtleneck, featuring hints of bright blue to tie the look together, which matches Kyle’s blue and black look.
Prada explain why they selected the actors to star in their show, saying: “Show actors are interpreters of reality, employed to echo truth through their portrayals.”
“Here, everyday reality is valorized, its signs and signifiers exchanged with those of elegance and sophistication. Through fabrication and methodology, an equal gravity is given to each genre of clothing – every facet of reality is offered significance, a sophistication and esteem, a lasting value.”
Jeff Goldblum closed the show, wearing all black, with shearling armbands and matching hem. Both Jeff and Thomas wore all black looks, except Thomas’ featured a hint of colour around his neck and one white earring.
