Jessica Chastain Says Her Skin Is Damaged From Makeup For New Role

Jessica Chastain has said that the heavy make-up for the role of Tammy Faye has done permanent damage to her skin.
The actress portrays Tammy Faye in the upcoming biographical drama The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
She revealed to The Los Angeles Times that she would spend 4 to 7.5 hours getting her makeup done and that she still has “AirPods that are covered with makeup.”

Chastain expressed concerns about playing Faye.
“You have to reach through the makeup,” she says, “you can’t let the makeup be the performance. She was so emotional, and I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to get emotional with all this stuff all over me.”
Even though she takes care of her skin and stays out of the sun, when asked how she kept her skin from breaking out, she think that she has “done some permanent damage” to her skin.
“You’re wearing it all day every day — the weight of it on your body, it stretches your skin out. I finally took it off and I was like, ‘I look 50 years old!’”
Her roles in the past have been intense, but she said that this one was “the hardest.”
