Katherine Johnson ‘Mathematical Genius’ Has Died Aged 101

Mathematician Katherine Johnson has died at 101.
The NASA ‘mathematical genius’ passed away on Monday of natural causes.
Upon her first application to work at NASA, she was completely rejected by the space giant, but that was not enough to put her off from pursuing her dream of becoming the next pioneer at NASA.
It wasn’t long before she helped calculate the trajectories for Alan Shepard to embark on a history-making journey in space. Later, Johnson would give the go-ahead for John Glenn to enter into space for orbit.
The mathematician was portrayed by Taraji P. Henson for the Oscar-nominated film, Hidden Figures.
She was 101.
Rest in Peace.
