Kevin Smith To Shoot ‘Clerks III’ Next Month In New Jersey

Kevin Smith will begin production on the third Clerks film next month, alongside Jeff Anderson and Jason Mewes.
Other returning cast members include Brian O’Halloran, Rosario Dawson and Trevor Fehrman. Liz Destro and Jordan Monsanto will produce.
Deadline reports that Lionsgate has secured the global film rights for this latest installment, which is currently in pre-production. Smith will write and direct.
The story is allegedly inspired by Smith’s own near death experience in 2018, and follows Randal (Anderson) after suffering a massive heart attack. He enlists the help of Dante (O’Halloran), Elias (Fehrman), Jay (Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) to immortalise his life at the convenience store on film.
“Thanks to Lionsgate, we get to return to where it all started with almost the whole cast that started it all!” Smith said in a statement. “We’re shooting the entire flick on location in New Jersey, as an ode to both the enduring allure of cinema and the resourcefulness and lunacy of its storytellers. Years ago, Dante and Randal made me a filmmaker – so now it’s time I return the favor.”
Kevin Smith is known for cult classics like Dogma, Jay And Silent Bob Reboot and Mallrats. The last Clerks film was released almost 15 years ago.
Production on Clerks III will begin in August.
