Kyrie Irving looks poised to make his home return after a spell on the sidelines of the Barclays Center.

Irving has not played a home game so far this season due to his unvaccinated status.

New York City mayor Eric Adams plans to lift the mandate for professional athletes according to USA Today Sports.

“We’re going to make the right decision,” Adams said on Wednesday. “And in New York, no matter what you do, this is 8.8 million people 30 million opinions, so you’re never going to satisfy New Yorkers, so you must go with the logic, your heart, and the science.”

If the mandate is lifted, Irving could make his comeback in front of home fans when the Brooklyn Nets play Charlotte on Sunday.

As well as the Nets, it opens the doors for unvaccinated New York Mets and Yankees players to play in front of their home crowds.
