LA Clippers Kawhi Leonard’s ACL Surgery Is Successful

The LA Clippers shared in an official statement that their star forward Kawhi Leonard had undergone successful surgery on the ACL tear in his right knee.

Leonard sustained the injury during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals, playing against Utah Jazz.

The Clippers beat the Jazz but were ultimately defeated in the finals against the Phoenix Suns.

In the statement, which can be found here, they said “Kawhi Leonard underwent successful surgery today to repair a partial tear of his right anterior cruciate ligament.”

“There is no timetable for his return.”

ACL injuries reportedly take upwards of 3 months to heal.

This was Leonard’s 10th season in the NBA. He averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.6 assists in 52 regular-season games.

According to ESPN, Leonard has a player option for the 2021-22 season. He can opt in for $36 million, with the option to sign a four year extension, starting in 2022-23, worth $181.5 million.

Leonard has previously played for the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors.
