Lashana Lynch Cast In ‘The Woman King’

Lashana Lynch has joined Viola Davis in the cast of ‘The Woman King‘.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the new feature will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and produced by Cathy Shulman.

‘The Woman King‘ is described as a historical epic, inspired by the true story of The Kingdom of Dahomey in the 18th and 19th centuries. The story will follow Nanisca – the general of an all-female military unit – and new recruit, Nawi. Together, the pair fought enemies who enslaved their people and destroyed everything they lived for.

The film is a TriStar Pictures production, based on a script written by Dana Stevens.

In 2019 Lynch featured alongside Brie Larson in ‘Captain Marvel‘. The 33-year-old British actress will next return to screens in upcoming Bond film, ‘No Time To Die‘ with Daniel Craig.

Davis last appeared in DC’s ‘The Suicide Squad‘ in July. She will also feature in Nora Fingscheidt’s ‘The Unforgivable‘.
