Leighton Meester To Star In New Netflix Thriller

Leighton Meester is making her return in Netflix‘s new upcoming psychological thriller adaptation of The Weekend Away.  

The Weekend Away, a bestselling novel by prolific author Sarah Alderson, will be the Gossip Girl stars first big film project for some years after the actress took a break from the big screen.

The novel follows Orla and Kate on a trip away together. The pair head off on their holiday to Lisbon and Orla is accused of killing her best friend.

As she attempts to clear her name and uncover the truth, she discovers some eerie secrets.

The Netflix adaptation is being set in Croatia, rather than Lisbon. Aside from this, the thriller seems to keep to the novel closely.

Meester will star alongside Batwoman‘s Christina Wolfe, Blind Sun actor Ziad Bakri, and Poldark‘s Luke Norris.
