Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood Further Arrested

Manchester United suspended forward Mason Greenwood has been further arrested for alleged threats to kill and sexual assault.
Graphic images and audio clips that surfaced on social media on January 30, prompted the club to take action.
“We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media,” the club said in a statement.
“We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”
On Sunday afternoon, the Greater Manchester Police released a statement regarding the circulating images and videos.

“An investigation was launched and following enquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning.”
The following day, it was revealed that GMP had been granted more time to speak to “a man in his 20s who is being held” regarding the allegations.
“Enquiries are ongoing and the victim is being offered specialist support.”
Since the arrest, sports brand Nike announced that they have “suspended their relationship with Mason Greenwood.”
Manchester United has stated that Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.

“We remind people to avoid any commentary or sharing of images that could compromise the victim’s right to lifelong anonymity, or risk prejudicing a live investigation with active proceedings,” said GMP.
Since his arrest, Mason has been further arrested with alleged threats to kill and sexual assault.
The police have been granted more time to question him.
