Michelle Williams To Play The Sixth Wife Of Henry VIII

Michelle Williams will portray the sixth and final wife of England’s King Henry VIII in Karim Aïnouz’s film, ‘Firebrand‘.
According to Variety, Aïnouz’s aims to begin production in the UK in early 2022.
This will be the first English-language feature Aïnouz has directed. The 55-year-old filmmaker is currently in Cannes to screen his latest film, Mariner of The Mountains.
Firebrand will be co-written by Henrietta and Jessica Ashworth – the writers behind the second season of Killing Eve. Gabrielle Tana of Magnolia Mae Films will produce and is previously credited for her work on The Dig and Philomena.
Williams will play Katherine Parr, the only woman to outlast King Henry VIII in both marriage and life.
“I could not be more excited to be bringing the undiscovered story of Katherine Parr to the screen, a ferociously brilliant woman who I am inspired by deeply and has been largely invisible, or certainly under-represented in English history,” says Aïnouz.
“My focus here is on a woman who not only managed to survive, but also, to thrive. This is a re-imagining of a ‘period’ film, a psychological horror film set in the Tudor court; a story of intrigue, agency and survival. Having Michelle Williams portray this remarkable woman, an actress of immeasurable talent and passion, is a dream come true.”
Williams returns to screens in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, reprising her role as Anne Weying. The film arrives in cinemas on September 15.
