The tournament will follow the same format as it did in the previous NBA season with the 7th through to the 10th seed of each conference taking part in the tournament.
This news comes following the NBA board of governors decision to approve of the extension of the post season for another year.
This giving teams who failed to finish in the top eight seeds in both conferences another chance at making the play-offs.
However the only change comes with the date. Rather then starting in May, the tournament set to begin April 12-15th shortly after the regular season concludes on the 10th.
