Nicki Minaj has been criticised for attacking Little Mix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock calling her a “big jealous bozo.”

The altercation came during Minaj’s live with former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson.

The two have just collaborated on a song, Boyz.

Nelson has come under fire since the release of the song, some saying she is ‘blackfishing’.

Some people have also said that lyrics like “oh, I like them tattoos and them gold teeth” and “so hood, so good, so damn taboo” are perpetuating negative stereotypes about young black men, and that she is using them as an ‘accessory’ in her music video.

The controversy surrounding the video sparked a conversation between Minaj and Nelson where Minaj came for Leigh-Anne.

“If you was in this woman’s group and you ain’t talk about this shit for 10 years,” Minaj said, “and as soon as you see she got a video coming out with Nicki Minaj and Puffy, now you sending text messages and all this shit…print those text messages out, bust your a** open and shove them up your motherf***ing ass.”

“Stop trying to hurt people and kill people’s lives and careers, this is the way people feed their families. Stop – if you want a solo career, baby girl, just say that.”

“Only jealous people do things like this,” Minaj continued. “It makes you a big jealous bozo. I love you guys but please don’t do this. Let these people be miserable all by themselves.”

The messages Minaj is referring to have since been proven to be fake.

Meanwhile, Nelson laughed along whilst Minaj attacked her long standing friend and former bandmate.

She did admit that her “blackfishing” had been brought up to her by a member of Little Mix previously.

This allegedly happened on the set for the music video for Sweet Melody back in 2020.

This was the last song the four released together before Nelson announced her departure in December 2020.

“It’s just hard for me because I was in a group with two women of colour for nine years,” Nelson said, “and it was never brought up to me up until the last music video when she messaged me and said ‘Jesy, I just want to make you aware’…”

Though Nelson never named who sent her that text, it is pressured to be Pinnock.

Then, in a since deleted video on Instagram, Minaj said; “Why you wasn’t mad that I didn’t call out Jesy before when I was working with y’all as a group? Why wasn’t there an uproar in the UK and the US before I met her? Jesy has been selling millions and millions of records for the last decade.”

The drama then spilled over onto Twitter, with Minaj tweeting referring to Leigh-Anne as ‘JeLeigh‘.

Nelson has not posted anything since the live, and Pinnock is also yet to make comment.

Social media has been in a frenzy since the live ended, with devoted fans on both sides fearlessly defending their idols.

Tweets in defensive of Pinnock point out Nelson’s hypocrisy in opening her up to a barrage of online hate;
