Nicolas Cage Will Not Play Joe Exotic After ‘Tiger King’ Series Is Shelved

Nicolas Cage has confirmed that he will not be playing Joe Exotic after Amazon scrapped its planned Tiger King drama. 

Last September it was reported that Amazon had picked up the Joe Exotic drama which was originally in development by CBS TV Studio.

However, Cage has now confirmed that Amazon will no longer be developing the project.

Speaking to Variety, Cage said: “I read two excellent scripts, which I did think were excellent. But I think Amazon ultimately felt that it was material that had become past tense because it took so long for it come together.

“They felt at one point that it was lightning in a bottle. But that point has since faded into the distance and it’s no longer relevant.” Cage added.

Amazon has not yet made a comment on the status of the Joe Exotic project. Another Tiger-King themed TV series is still currently in the works by Wondery.
