Ovidio G. Assonitis To Direct ‘Beyond The Door’ Sequel

Ovidio G. Assonitis will direct the sequel to his 1974 horror classic ‘Beyond The Door‘.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 78-year-old filmmaker is returning to the industry with several features in mind.

The original ‘Beyond The Door‘ followed a young woman pregnant with the devil’s baby. Set thirty years after the first film, the sequel will see Juliet Mills return to the role of Jessica Barrett. The story will center around her on-screen daughter who fears, like her mother before her, she is carrying the devil’s baby.

Assonitis reportedly hopes to begin production on the sequel – entitled ‘Beyond The Door: Embryo‘ – next year. Other upcoming titles he is involved with include ‘The Disappearing Girl‘, ‘My Name Is Mr. Who‘ and ‘The Incredible Lives of Chang & Eng‘.

The Egyptian-born filmmaker’s career stems back to the 1960s and his work includes other cult-horror films such as ‘Tentacles‘, ‘The Visitor‘, ‘Piranha II: The Spawning‘.
