Phoebe Waller-Bridge Exits ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ Reboot
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has exited Amazon’s new series ‘Mr & Mrs Smith‘ – based on the 2005 film starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 36-year-old’s exit comes amid creative differences with co-star and series creator, Donald Glover. The pair previously worked together in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘ and allegedly remain friends despite Waller-Bridge’s separation from the new show.
Recasting for the leading role will now take place.
‘Mr & Mrs Smith‘ is a co-creation by Glover and Francesca Sloane. The series comes to Amazon following an overall deal signed by Glover and is scheduled to release in 2022.
Glover, also known by his stage name Childish Gambino, is best known for his work on the show ‘Atlanta‘. The 37-year-old actor, singer and showrunner is currently also allegedly working a new series called ‘Hive‘.
Waller-Bridge is best known for starring in the hit series ‘Fleabag‘ – for which she was awarded three Emmys. She is currently working on the latest installment of the Indiana Jones franchise opposite Harrison Ford and Mads Mikkelsen; and returns to screens later this month in the upcoming Bond film, ‘No Time To Die‘.
