Veteran prop master Neal W Zoromski claims he turned down the opportunity to work on Rust because of ‘massive red flags’.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died on the set of Rust last week after she was accidently shot by actor Alec Baldwin.

Speaking to the New York Post, Zoromski, who has worked as a prop master for three decades, recalled how he had been offered to join the Rust film crew last month, but ultimately turned the job down after having a discussion with the films managers.

“After I pressed ‘send’ on that last email, I felt, in the pit of my stomach: ‘That is an accident waiting to happen,’” Zoromski said.

According to Zoromski, he felt that Rust was a production more focused on saving money rather then people’s safety.

“In the movies, the prep is everything. You also need time to clean, inspect and repair guns. You need time to fix old clocks. But here, there was absolutely no time to prepare, and that gave me a bad feeling,” he added.

Zoromski isn’t the first person to come out and claim that shortcuts where taken on the set of Rust. Earlier this week, the chief electrician for Rust blamed Hutchins death on “negligence and unprofessionalism”.
