Rami Malek Reveals The Time He Caught Kate Middleton Off Guard

Rami Malek has revealed that he once caught Princess Kate Middleton off-guard at the 2019 BAFTAs.

Malek shared his story in conversation on Jimmy Kimmel Live, promoting the new James Bond film, No Time To Die.

Discussing the recent premiere event for the film in London, Kimmel commented that the British Royal Family were in attendance. Confirming this, Malek also admitted to having some familiarity with Kate Middleton and Prince William.

“Last time I was there, at Royal Albert Hall, it was the BAFTAs so I had some familiarity with Princess Kate and Prince Will,” he said. “That was lovely. We had a little chat.”

“What’s fascinating is, they work so hard to get to know everybody – who’s done whatever film they’ve done – and you can see they’ve done their homework. And I just looked at Princess Kate at one point and I said, ‘This must be exhausting’. And she said ‘Why?’”

“I said, ‘Well, you’ve just had a baby right?’, and she goes – I think she was taken aback. She says, ‘How are you doing?’ – ‘No, how are you?,’” described Malek.

“And, in the most regal, elegant way she gave me a look. But you could tell. I mean imagine, dressed to the nines, having to talk to all these actors,” he said. “But it was so cool because I think I caught her off guard for a second and you know, had that look of, in the most elegant, professional, royal way – ‘Yes, it’s a lot, having a kid’.”

Malek went on to say that he even offered to babysit so the royal couple could have a night off. Kimmel points out that no one will want him to babysit after his latest film.
