‘Rust’ Production Continues Despite Alec Baldwin’s Manslaughter Charges

Despite recent manslaughter charges against its lead actor, Alec Baldwin, the film Rust will continue production.
In a statement from the movie’s attorney, Melisa Spadone, it was announced that Baldwin will remain in the lead role and that the set will include strict safety measures such as on-set supervisors and union crew members, and will prohibit the use of weapons or ammunition.
The Santa Fe County District Attorney, Mary Carmack-Altwies, announced earlier this week that Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will face two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
The charges stem from the death of the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. SAG-AFTRA has also released a statement regarding the charges.
Production on Rust was originally set to begin in October 2022.
