Shia LaBeouf has landed his first film role less then a year after his ex-partner FKA Twigs sued him for sexual assault.

According to Variety, the actor has been cast as an Italian saint in a new film directed by Abel Ferrara with filming expected to commence in October.

“We’re doing a film about Padre Pio. He was very young before he became a saint, so Shia LaBeouf is going to play the monk,” Ferrara told Variety.

The casting of LaBeouf comes less then a year after the actor was sued by his former partner, FKA Twigs, for sexual assault, battery and the infliction of emotional distress.

In court documents filed in February, LaBeouf’s legal team denied “each and every” accusation made by Twigs against the actor.

The documents also stated that the allegation of sexual battery is wrong “because none of the acts alleged were based on sex.”

Although the lawsuit is ongoing, one of Twigs’ lawyer said to a Superior Court judge in June that settlement negations where going well.

“The parties have been engaged in productive settlement negotiations and are in the process of arranging for an early mediation,” the lawyer said.
