Sigourney Weaver And Joel Edgerton Set To Star In ‘Master Gardener’

Sigourney Weaver and Joel Edgerton are set to star in Paul Schrader’s new crime thriller ‘Master Gardener‘.

According to Deadline, Schrader is directing the feature based on his own screenplay.

The story follows a horticulturist (Edgerton), devoted to tending the grounds of an estate and pandering to his wealthy employer (Weaver). When she demands that he take on her wayward niece, it unlocks dark secrets from a buried violent past.

Schrader most recent film, ‘The Card Counter‘, is to debut at Venice Film Festival tomorrow (September 2). The film, starring Oscar Isaac and Tiffany Haddish, is a crime drama following a military interrogator-turned-gambler haunted by his past decisions.

Master Gardener is the natural successor to the brilliant film The Card Counter which will have its world premiere tomorrow at the Venice Film Festival.” Said Gabrielle Stewart of HanWay Films. “Character-driven, sexy and surprising, with plenty of intrigue one would expect from a Schrader film.”

Sigourney Weaver has enjoyed a busy schedule, featuring in James Cameron’s two upcoming Avatar films. She will also appear in comedy drama, ‘The Good House‘ and drama film ‘Call Jane‘.

Joel Edgerton recently returned to screens in A24’sThe Green Knight‘ with Dev Patel. He will also appear in Australian crime thriller ‘The Unknown Man‘ and is currently filming for Ron Howard’s new survival film, ‘Thirteen Lives‘.
