Simone Biles Withdraws From Olympics Gymnastics Team Finals
The USA Gymnastics team went on to win silver in the women’s gymnastics team final, following Simone Biles withdrawing from competing.
After her first rotation in the vault, Biles withdrew from competing from the remainder of the teams finals saying that she has to “focus on my mental health.” This came after she was asked if she withdrew due to injury.
A statement from the USA Gymnastics read that she had, “withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue.”
Prior to the finals she posted on her Instagram with part of the caption reading, “ I truly do feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders at times” adding that she brushes it off and makes it seem like the press doesn’t affect her. Read full post below.
It is unknown at this time if she will withdrawn completely from all the events at this years Olympic Games with her next appearance set to take place Thursday.
